<b>               `, Nature's Hidden Melody `,

Ashen clouds loom overhead, rolling in quickly from the south. Thunder slowly surrounds, lightning flickers in the distance as the sunlight begins to fade away behind the dark, gloomy clouds.

Between the booming roars from the heavens above, there is a deafening silence surrounding, as if all the creatures of the forest have gone into hiding from what is soon to come.

A sharp wind picks up out of nowhere; leaves and twigs seemingly float and twirl around before gracefully falling to the ground. Wind in every direction, and yet directionless all at once. My hair whips wildly around, my clothes pinned tight against my tiny, lithe frame, unable to flow freely in one direction or another; trapped by the air binding them around me.

Thunder, loud overhead as the rain begins to fall. Lightning forks across the sky, illuminating the dark clouds and bringing them to life for a brief moment. I feel a cool wet splash on my forehead, quickly followed by several others.

A smile begins to creep across my face in expectation of what is to soon come. I slowly lift my arms up, and begin to twirl around - much like the leaves blowing in the wind.

In the midst of the forest, with naught but the wild around me, rain beating down upon me? I feel at home, I feel an overwhelming sense of calm. A giggle escapes in my excitement and is lost amongst the howling wind. I close my eyes, and listen to the sounds around me, wind and rain competing against one another for dominance of the storm.

Shortly after, a ray of light breaks through the darkest cloud as the rain begins to let up, and the dark, ashen clouds slowly roll on their way, wherever Awen would have them next be. Their work here is done.

I brush my hair out of my face and blink away the water, taking in a deep breath I smile and look around.

In the aftermath of the storm, a nearby stream has turned a murky brown with mud that has been washed anew into it. Branches are broken, leaves are strewn everywhere. A tree has toppled over in the distance from the force of the wind, making a path of destruction. A bird's nest has been tossed about, and a single egg lies cracked on the ground.

But this is not what I see.

I see rain drops glistening on leaves, radiant in the sunlight. I see new growth poking through where a little dirt has been washed away. I hear birds chirping happily, searching for dinner for their young. I spot a few flowers that had closed themselves to protect their blossoms from the downpour, now opening to the warmth of the sun. I see a stream begin to carve a new path with its new found height.

A calm wind rustles through the leaves, and I smile to myself as I pick up my Tree Branch and head along my way: what beauty there is to be heard in the silent, but constant, often unseen melody of Nature - one need only open their eyes and look for it.
